eShop games of the week: Super Mario Kart,
The Wii U and 3DS downloads and promotions coming this Thursday
Mario Kart fever begins here. Super Mario Kart's arrived to ring in the old school, pretender to the throne F1 Race Stars has been reduced to £10, and I keep throwing seashells at Matthew's head. It's pretty great. Onto this week's eShop releases: 3, 2, 1...
Super Mario Kart (Wii U Virtual Console: Nintendo, £5.49) is the original and, some would say, best in the world's most famous series about fictional people driving ride-on lawnmowers. If you're planning on downloading Mario Kart 8 in May, this is a no-brainer - the £5.49 will be taken off the cost of your eShop purchase when the new game arrives.http://www.youtube.com/watch?list=PL...layer_embeddedProfessor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (3DS: Nintendo, £39.99) is Nintendo's greatest meeting of minds since Satoru Iwata and Masahiro Sakurai came up with Smash Bros. while acting out a Royal Rumble with action figures.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xX3L0hmy140&list=PLN17ThonXwb0vYSK7q8qoUNL ODxEibV7h&feature=player_embeddedSkater Cat (3DS: Teyon, £4.49) is an auto-skating platformer featuring a cat named Ollie. A name that straightforward deserves a to-the-point description.
Mighty Bomb Jack (Wii U Virtual Console: Tecmo Koei, £3.49) is really a very bad platformer. Sorry.
Ninja Gaiden (Wii U Virtual Console: Tecmo Koei, £3.49) began as an unutterably tough scrolling beat 'em up, but led to a game that had Matthew murdering Alsatians in stylish flak jackets. Truly historic.
Adventure Island II (3DS Virtual Console: Konami, £4.49) allows you to ride four different dinosaurs, which automatically qualifies it for best game ever.
