In making the leap to Xbox One, Forza Horizon 2 will include hundreds of cars, according to Playground Games, headlined by the 2015 Lamborghini Huracán. A long-awaited weather system will also make its Forza debut, while Forza 5’s Drivatar system is also being adapted for Horizon 2.
As for the game’s setting? Contrary to recent rumors, it won’t take place in the bayous of Louisiana. Instead, the game will take place in gorgeous Southern Europe, leading to, in Fulton’s words, “incredible diversity” and “amazing vistas.” Music will again play a big part in the game, and a music festival will be the central event around which the game’s activities revolve.
Extensive improvements and features are in store for Horizon 2, which IGN will showcase throughout June as part of our brand-new IGN First initiative. We traveled to Playground Games in the UK and brought back a (metric!) ton of content that we’re excited to share with you all month long, including tomorrow’s full preview of our hands-on time with the game.
This is great news for Forza Horizon fans and even better news that it isn't going to be a 'Next Gen' only release!

Forza Horizon 2 gameplay details - massive new world could last you "over 100 hours"
Drivatar data shared with Forza 5, new online features explored
The same Forza Horizon 2 write-up that gave rise to these wide-eyed remarks about texture resolution has furnished us with insights on gameplay. According to Playground's creative director Ralph Fulton, the new Forza's world offers three times as much drivable terrain as the original Horizon's Colorado, and it'll take players over 100 hours to achieve 100 per cent completion.
Horizon 2 supports 12 player multiplayer, including new cross-country races in which you're free to burst any and all road barriers. Drop-in, drop-out co-op is supported - switching to online play triggers a brief cinematic view of the front of your car, but otherwise doesn't interrupt gameplay. "I actually banned my designers a long time ago from using the terms single-player and multiplayer," explained Fulton. "Those are old-fashioned terms, they're last-gen terms, and I banned them because they encouraged people to think of two separate systems.
"That doesn't wash anymore; we have one game, a unified structure, which applies equally if you're playing solo, with Drivatars, or online with friends. And what that means is that wherever you are, whether you're in free-roam or in races, whether you're online or playing solo, everything you do contributes to your progression. You're always levelling up. You're always earning new rewards, regardless of where you're doing it in the game."

"It's not an exaggeration to say that the day that we flicked the switch on Drivatar technology in Horizon 2, the experience changed completely," observed Fulton. "Suddenly the races were completely different. The unpredictable skills of Drivatars suddenly have cars going three-abreast into corners, undertaking and weaving. Doing things that only real players would do; computer-controlled AI would never think to, or have been programmed to do."
The original game's Skills are now linked to perks, such as a temporary ghost state when you're trying to escape a clash. These unlock over the course of the game, and may dramatically enhance how you play.
Racer clubs now have room for up to 1000 players, and there are new online hangouts called Car Meets, where you can show off liveries and tunes, "buy" cars from other players (it's not clear whether this actually involves real money), and trigger quick Showdown races. Think of it as a Party feature with added frills.
In case you missed it, the Xbox 360 version of Forza Horizon 2 is being created by Sumo Digital - it'll run on the original game's engine, while the Xbox One version powers through care of Forza 5's tech.

Another thing that is secret by the producers of the game: Will Daryl Flint, former champion Horizon will appear in the game wanting revenge?
