Mario Kart 7 completed as 'an act of emergency'
Attachment 4228
Nintendo has admitted that Mario Kart 7 was completed as “an act of emergency” in an effort to get it out in time for the holiday season. Nintendo were so determined to get the game out this year that they enlisted the help of Metroid developer Retro Studios to make sure Mario Kart 7 was finished this year. Retro concentrated on redoing the classic courses while Nintendo concentrated on creating the new courses.
Quote:
EAD Software Development Group No. 1
Producer: Hideki Konno
Director: Yoshihasa Morimoto
Art Director: Masaki Ishikawa
Coordinator: Yuji Ishijo
Retro Studios Inc.
Art Director: Vince Joley
Graphic Design: Ryan Powell
Course Design : Tom Ivey
+ Hideki Konno, Manager and Producer of EAD Software Development Group No.1 explains how his section was co-developling both Nintendogs+Cats and Mario Kart 3DS. Originally both projects started with an inhouse team of eight people. Engines were up and running early at EAD for original E3 teasers.
+ Konno explains that with several production designers joining to finish Nintendogs+Cats for launch, and other "developments at Nintendo taking up other staff" there was "an act of emergency" to have Mario Kart finished by the end of the year. Konno needed more people to get this done.
+ Designers from Retro Studios Inc who worked on Donkey Kong Country were called to help design and model some courses.
+ Retro concentrated on redoing the classic courses while EAD Group No. 1 concentrated on the new courses. (seemingly?)
+ EAD designers compliment Retro. Retro designers compliment EAD.
English version should be up hopefully shortly.

very interesting, but makes sense that they would want it out before holiday season so a lot of people will buy for Christmas for their kids or themselves XD, nice share longy :)
