Metal Gear Rising's story revised, now set post-MGS4
Attachment 4385
The newly Platinum-plated Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance features a story different from the one planned for the old Metal Gear Solid: Rising.
Quote:
While the game was originally intended to take place between
Metal Gear Solids 2 and
4, the setting has now been transfarred to a time years after MGS4. This was done in order to let Platinum "show off what they can bring to the series." Without creating a time paradox and accidentally undoing the events of
MGS4, we suppose.
Raiden joins up with private military companies for various jobs including "VIP protection, military training and other duties" as an unspecified country rebuilds from a civil war. "Little does he know that the stage is set for a clash with an enigmatic force of countless cyborgs."
This information comes via the
official site, which is also the source for the new screens in our gallery. The site provides a detailed listing of staff for the title, including Platinum's Atsushi Inaba (the guy on stage with Kojima) as producer alongside Konami's Yuji Korekado. It could stand to be more detailed, as there's no
game director listed.
Konami still has some revealing to do: the site claims that a video interview titled "The Truth Behind RISING" will explain the genesis of the Platinum/Kojipro collaboration, on December 13.
By the way, the site lists only PS3 and Xbox 360 releases -- no PC.
Re: Metal Gear Rising's story revised, now set post-MGS4
I hope there is some filler in the game for the events of MGS2-4 i wanted to see how he became a cyborg. Other than that i'm still happy they are still making the game.
Re: Metal Gear Rising's story revised, now set post-MGS4
The newest trailer (leaked) killed this game for me. I liked the direction it WAS headed in and the mechanics it had. Now it just looks like another devil may cry clone with the cool "slice anything" kills available as finishers. If I have a bada** sword that can cut anything, I shouldn't have to slice a guy 90 times for him to die. Off my list now :/
Re: Metal Gear Rising's story revised, now set post-MGS4
I agree i was very excited about this game untill i saw the trailer for it looks like you have to slash people well over 10 times to even kill them thats not MGS.
Re: Metal Gear Rising's story revised, now set post-MGS4
From the first trailer they did along with the gameplay it looked so professional and killing enemies with one slice was so realistic now they completely made it so its almost a crap hack and slash arcade game i was really feeling for what they had going on now im starting to think what made them change in this direction because fans will not be happy
Re: Metal Gear Rising's story revised, now set post-MGS4
im starting to have second thoughts about this game. and, i agree with what OB said in his post.
Re: Metal Gear Rising's story revised, now set post-MGS4
As an MGS Fanatic, I still intend on buying the game. Even if it turns out to be rubbish. But don't judge a book by it's cover.
