Shooter fans were somewhat confused but none the less ecstatic when Microsoft announced the upcoming fourth game in the ever-popular Halo series. But since then news regarding the game has been somewhat scarce.
So Halo fans may be excited to know that The Flood, the infamous and nasty parasitic aliens that have made themselves a constant annoyance in the series, have been confirmed to be making a return in Halo 4's multiplayer.
IGN.com reported today that 343 Industries, the developers for the new game, confirmed this in a series of screenshots from the game that was released today (which will be linked here, so those of you who want to avoid possible spoilers can).
In the mentioned multiplayer mode, which allows up to ten players, two will start out infected with the goal of infecting the remaining eight. It's up to the others to wipe out the infected.
343 Industries also showed off new UNSC vehicles, including the massive mech called a Mantis and the troop transport called a Mammoth. Additionally, they revealed a new multiplayer level called The Complex.
More good news soon followed, as Video Gamer.com also confirmed last night at an event in London that Frank O'Conner of 343 revealed that the game's development was finished.
"We had a big piece of news yesterday back in the office, which is that the game is literally finished at this point," He said. "They are handing it off through the various certification processes and that, and we're done. It's been three years of incredibly hard work by about 300 people."
The wait is almost over for eager space marine enthusiasts, since Halo 4 launches November 6.
