After the rather disastrous launch of Test Drive Unlimited 2, developer Eden Games is now facing the looming threat of downsizing. Under the new redundancy plan being put into acton by studio parent Atari, only 29 of Eden Games' 80 employees will be left. In response, the studio's employees have staged a "symbolic day strike" to show Atari "the employees' determination and mobilization."

The Lyons, France-based developer also sent out a statement accussing Atari of mismanagement and failing to follow through with their recovery projects following numerous downsizing policies.

"Eden Games pays now for Atari mismanagement," the statement said. "For several years we are witnessing multiple leader changes at its head, they did not hesitate to get rich despite financial difficulties.

"Each time the recovery project was beautiful and promising, and ended in a failure. We are skeptical about the proposed project," that statement claimed, without going into further detail about potential projects.

"Atari does not play the game of negotiations with employee representatives on the redundancy plan measures. Employee representatives of Eden until now have been extremely collaborative, respecting the very tight deadlines of the redundancy plan."

Eden Games' representatives planned to use the strike as a chance to "communicate and interact with the CEO, Jim Wilson, who has never introduced himself to his employees." Unfortunately, it appears they were unable to contact Wilson and are instead now talking to his French financier.

Atari, meanwhile, has refused to comment on the issue.
