It's the same risk like all other mods, but not more or less. My LIVE profile for example has about 100 modded GPDs and i never got banned.

I have been temp banned for Modding the Gamer score on my account/gamer profile. It is a risk and a pointless one if you do what I did. I suggest just getting gamerscore legit, but anything else is your choice.
