Nintendo has provided some support to Atlus with the release of both Shin Megami Tensei IV and Etrian Odyssey IV in South Korea. Shin Megami Tensei IV will be published by Nintendo as a retail title fully localized in Korean, while Etrian Odyssey IV will be released by Nintendo as an eShop-only title, with no Korean localization, but both the Japanese and English versions available for purchase in South Korea.
Nintendo undoubtedly realizes that these two games are important titles to capitalize on in the Korean market, as Atlus has maintained a following there since the Playstation 2 days, with the release of Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. The move comes shortly after it was announced that Sega would purchase Atlus’s parent company, Index Corp., so it will be interesting to see if Sega enters the Korean market with future Atlus titles.
