So Mr Nukealizer if I wanted to copy the first character data to the second slot on the same save file could I rename USER_DATA01 to USER_DATA02?

That depends on what you mean by "rename". Renaming the file within the save is a horrible idea, but you can extract USER_DATA01 and USER_DATA0b, rename them to USER_DATA02 and USER_DATA0c, and put them back in.

You don't need to rename them, just extarct them and replace them over USER_DATA02 and USER_DATA0c files.

Ok so I'm a little confused about this, how do i find the ID's (such as item ID's) with a hex editor? I tried converting to ID to hex then searching for it that way but I couldn't find them.

Yeah, I thought about saying that, but I'm not sure what program he's using or how it replaces things, so I figured better safe than sorry.

You will only find the IDs by searching for them if you already have those items in your inventory.
If you want to add items, you need to find the item list, then look for an empty spot (likely at the end) and add in the data. The first post explains it.

Re: Dark Souls 2 Modding Discussion

Sorry to ask but I don't understand what 0x407 is.

    In:
CURRENT PLAYTHROUGH (Also increases your Bonfire Intensity)
    0x407 (INT8) [MAX = 99]

What should I be looking for in hex?

Tried looking at some tutorials on what 0x407 Int8 means but just got confused.

I know about dec to hex, searching, editing, etc but not sure what this is.

Hope someone would be kind enough to help. Apologies again, but I thought it doesn't hurt to ask.

0x407 is the Offset the value is located at. Meaning ROW 400, COLUMN 7 (if you have your Hex Editor setup to only display Columns 00 - 0F). Int8 means it's 1 byte long (Values are between 00 - FF).

Oh wow, can't believe it was so simple.

    Many thanks for that.

Awesome, lets see how long I survive on 99. (For a laugh).
