Cutesy tower defence now yours to download until the 31st March
It's the 16th of the month, which means it's time for the excellent Civilization Revolution to leave the Games with Gold rotation. But no sooner does it leave than another game steps up to the podium of free games goodness to take its place. The offering? Trendy Entertainment's XBLA tower defence Dungeon Defenders.
We do seem to have had a lot of tower defence games in the Games With Gold scheme thus far, but this one sets itself apart by virtue of its fantastical fantasy setting where you can pick from one of four tiny heroes that each fit into a different class: the Squire, the Apprentice, the Huntress and the Monk who are fighting, magic, ranged and healing respectively.
It's a very multiplayer-centric game, as our US cousins found out, saying in their 9/10 review that "With housekeeping chores divided, you're all free to focus on ingenious structure placement and exhausting real-time combat."It seems we were less enamoured with the game, only giving it a 5 all the way back in OXM 80 - sorry, there's no online version - but from my own personal experience with (shh) the PC edition, I personally think it's quite the hoot with friends and has a rather nice Diablo-esque loot/reward system, but not quite as fun when playing solo.
If you fancy it, you can grab it here. No word on April's offerings just yet - expect more on that towards the end of the month. In the meantime, keep our Free Xbox Games hub bookmarked so you'll know all the lovely free goodness you can grab as and when it becomes available. Will you be picking this up?
