Bet you never saw this coming. This first Final Fantasy game to be released for 3DS in Japan won't be an RPG but a rhythm action game called Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.
You have to tap the screen in time with the Final Fantasy music as you would in most handheld rhythm action games.
Aside from that, there's plenty here for Final Fantasy fans. There are scenes from dungeons and towns plus battle scenes in the style of those old side-on scraps from vintage Final Fantasy games.
Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII and Cloud from Final Fantasy VII will be making appearances but they'll look cute and cartoony.
There's even a Final Fantasy-style story with characters fighting in order to return light to a crystal.
Well, Final Fantasy does feature some amazing music but we never thought we'd be dancing to it in a rhythm action game. Did you?
