Relatively reliable gossip source Nerd Leaks reports that this year will see the release of Forza Horizon 3. Developed once again by Leamington Spa's Playground Games, the open-world racing sequel will be set in Australia, and will be released on 27th September for both Xbox One and Windows 10.

Lamborghinis are stupid, aren't they.

The news is expected and very credible. Forza Horizon has been released on alternate years to its parent series Forza Motorsport on a reliable schedule since its debut in 2012. Expect Microsoft to confirm its existence and reveal the game for the first time during its briefing which starts at 5.30pm UK time today.

Other details revealed by Nerd Leaks' "insider" source: Forza Horizon 3 will feature extreme terrain, the largest map and car roster in the series to date, and a four-player campaign co-op mode. The cover car will be the Lamborghini Centenario.

Unsurprising, but terrific news all the same. Horizon and its sequel are among the very best racing games of the last few years, and the principal flag-fliers for the once-proud UK racing game development scene. Check back this evening for more information.
