BioWare plans to release one more downloadable content package for Mass Effect 2 in 2011.
The developer made the announcement through its Daily News posting, and added that Cerberus Network news updates will cease this month on Jan. 24. However, there will be additional updates when the downloadable content is available next year, and leading up to the release of Mass Effect 3 during holiday 2011.
Below is the statement in full from the team:
The Cerberus Daily News will begin a hiatus on January 24th, finishing its run of one full year. Daily postings will cease except for three weeks in 2011: a week of posts will precede a downloadable content release, and two more weeks will lead up to the release of Mass Effect 3.
The CDN team thanks fans for their attention, comments, and feedback, (both in and out of character!). We are sorry to go, but we had fun –- we hope you did, too!
Mass Effect 2 has seen its fair share of post-release downloadable content. Add-ons "Overlord," "Kasumi - Stolen Memory," and "Lair of the Shadow Broker" expanded the game's storyline. The title also saw several weapon pack downloads.
Mass Effect 2 for PlayStation 3 is set for release on Jan. 18, 2011.
