Today SEGA announced a new rhythm/puzzle hybrid coming exclusively to the Nintendo 3DS. Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure will release in early 2012.

In Rhythm Thief, players must tap the screen, swipe the stylus and tilt the system to the beat of the music. All this to maneuver Raphael -- a curious thief who specializes in stealing famous works of art only to return them a few days later -- through the streets of Paris.

In addition to mastering the assortment of rhythm challenges, players will also be tasked with helping Raphael search for the Wristlet of Tiamat to unmask the mystery behind his father's disappearance.

Although no specifics were disclosed, SEGA confirmed that Rhythm Thief will support both single player and multiplayer, as well as use the 3DS' StreetPass functionality.
