The competition continues to rage on between Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. But while the difference in single-player hours aren't all that much, EA DICE stresses that they'd rather gun for quality hours rather than to present long hours of inane stuff to gamers.
Said David Goldfarb, EA DICE's lead designer, on the single-player hours for Battlefield 3, "I would say it's a pretty decent length. It's not Skyrim, but it's not three hours, or anything like that." So how much difference is there in terms of single-player gameplay length as compared to Activision's Modern Warfare 3?
"I'd say it was probably slightly more than that. Based on our play-times it's probably more than that, but it's not twice as long. But, again, we'll see. When you play it on hard difficulty, it'll take a lot more time. It's all about making sure the experience is as awesome as possible. I'd rather have six hours of awesome than 12 hours of 'meh'."
Just recently, EA DICE surprised fans with the fantastic announcement that PC gamers will have the option to use the Ultra Settings, which, in other words, are very high settings for the game's graphics. Most probably, too, it's to make up for the lack of servers in the said version of the game.
Battlefield 3 comes out this November for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
