Its not a time limit. You can play the game for any length of time you want. Six Minutes is the games average time to beat the Echo level you play. Doing so under that time gives you a time bonus on your score.
My high score is around 10,000. I've been playing to get this game for awhile, and the demo just further sold me on it. People Can Fly is a dev I like.
