Let me start by saying I think it's kind of funny that, only after Sly mentions his feelings on this whole thing, everybody else now seems to think it's a fake. That said, I'm jumping on the bandwagon here and saying I think it's fake as well.
First off, nobody's even heard of this guy, and the hackers that have been around the scene for a while are the ones who generally know what they're doing (there are exceptions, sure, just not many). Second, the one guy we know who seems to actually be making an editor is mojobojo, a well known and experienced hacker and programmer, and it isn't something he's been able to just whip up in a week or so; if mojo hasn't made it yet, I seriously doubt that some nobody could just come along and will it into existence. Third, yeah, Sly's right, this has all been done to death with console commands; using console commands is like pseudo-hacking, because you're really just using cheat codes that are already programmed into the game, as opposed to taking the data and wading through the hex to actually find what you need. Fourth, he seems absolutely abstinent about talking to anybody about it, aside from ambiguously plugging the hell out of it (blocked from commenting because he was called out for non-hacking is a dead give away). Fifth, it -has- been a long time to go without proof, hasn't it?
Here's hoping for good luck to those who are actually working on an editor for this game (ie, mojo) and letting those who lie about it be ignored by those who care.
It really isn't. It's just a dynamic library coded in little endian, with patches of compression here and there to save space (otherwise, the save file would be HUGE). I'm no programmer so I don't know how difficult it is to create a program that takes dynamic offsets into account, but I am a hacker and I know that little endian isn't much of an issue; it's just a matter of having the patience to find the offsets (little endian and dynamic offsets aside) and the knowledge to decompress and recompress the data chunks that need it. Otherwise, it's almost exactly the same as Oblivion, which was pretty straight forward (I lack knowledge of compression methods, otherwise I'd be all over modding this game).
